Lego WeDo 2.0 Kits allow students to engage in application-based problem-solving skills. The kits provide STEM-themed activities and supplies which implement customized learning and differentiated instruction for all students. Furthermore, the kits produce a seamless integration of the current curricula and real-life experiences. These supplies will give students an opportunity to solve scenario-based design challenges that will remain relevant and enriching for years to come.

The Lego WeDo 2.0 Kits greatly benefit the Spring Grove Elementary second grade classroom environment as students are consistently required to cooperate, problem-solve, and innovate. One example of this is when the students took class discussions from Earth Day and utilized the Lego kits to create better sorting methods for recycling, a device that would help remove plastic from the ocean, and a means of transporting endangered animals across busy highways. Furthermore, the teacher has been able to enhance the aforementioned skills along with critical thinking and design. While one small group of students was able to discover unbalanced forces when studying gears and axles, they quickly learned the design process along with the importance of working together while testing and evaluating their own work.

The success of the integration of the Lego WeDo 2.0 kits in the classroom can be documented by student engagement, investigations performed, and student-performed analysis. Perhaps what is most exciting is the ability to teach with cross-curricular ties. Students have performed a culminating task to their science unit on air and weather, specifically extreme storms. After learning, researching, and writing their own report on a variety of extreme storms, they then developed a prototype as a means of preventing and/or warning others of the storm. The problem solving, communication, and collaborative skills that took place while students simultaneously brought reading, writing, research, science, technology and art together to help with a real world scenario has surely created an experience the students will remember.
